Haymarket and downtown Lincoln: mattress care in condos and lofts

Downtown and the Haymarket are building-by-building: in the downtown tract, 90% of homes are in buildings of ten or more units and almost none are houses. In the Haymarket and West Haymarket tract, 41% of homes were built in the 2010s, alongside 1880s brick warehouses, some with apartments upstairs. We bring everything up to the unit and clean the mattress in place, at $249 for the first mattress. Call or text (402) 512-5658.

What does the record say about Haymarket and downtown?

The Haymarket
Eight blocks of the 1867 Original Plat between 7th and 9th Streets and N and R Streets, sloping west to the Salt Creek floodplain. Warehouses are the predominant building type, and the focal point is the 1927 Burlington Depot, now Lincoln Station. (National Register nomination, Lincoln Haymarket Historic District)
A local landmark district since 1982
The Haymarket became Lincoln's second local landmark district in 1982, after Mount Emerald in 1981. (City of Lincoln, Historic Designations)
West Haymarket
Pinnacle Bank Arena opened in August 2013, with UNL's summer commencement as its first event. (Nebraska Athletics)

What kind of homes are downtown and in the Haymarket?

Almost all of them are in larger buildings. In the downtown tract, 90% of homes are in buildings of ten or more units and 1% are detached houses; citywide those figures are 23% and 55%. Studios are 17% of downtown homes, against 3% across Lincoln. Yet 17% of downtown homes have four bedrooms, the same share as the city, which in a tract with almost no houses means large apartment units.

The Haymarket and West Haymarket tract is the newest part of the core: 41% of its homes were built in the 2010s, the decade Pinnacle Bank Arena opened in West Haymarket. The other end of the age range is the historic district itself. Its National Register nomination describes eight blocks of the 1867 Original Plat where warehouses are the predominant building type, from 1880s brick grocery warehouses to the 1927 Burlington Depot, with offices and apartments on several upper floors.

How does a mattress visit work in a building?

Logistics first. Tell us the building name, entrance, unit and floor, and whether your building wants contractors on a service elevator or signed in at the desk. The mattress is cleaned where it sits, so it never has to fit in an elevator. The visit itself is the same as anywhere in Lincoln: a material inspection, low-moisture dry vapor steam on the surface, seams and tufts, HEPA vacuuming and UV-C light treatment. The method is explained in the Sleep Sanitation Knowledge Center.

Is there anything different about a loft or a new tower?

Air, mostly. The Haymarket's warehouses were built with large windows, and a sleeping area by a sunny window runs warm in a Lincoln summer. Lincoln Airport's average July dew point is about 65°F, and LLCHD recommends 30 to 50 percent humidity indoors; our Lincoln humidity and bed mites guide has the details. In any of them, the bed stays unmade until it is dry to the touch, and we run a moisture check after the job.

Do downtown hosts have their own guide?

Yes. If your unit takes paying guests for Husker games, concerts or graduation, start at the Airbnb hosts hub, which covers Lincoln's short-term rental rules and lodging taxes.

What does a visit cost in Haymarket and downtown?

The same as anywhere in Lincoln: the first mattress is $249, any size, with normal stains, pet odor and ordinary urine accidents included. Each additional full, queen or king in the same visit is $199, each additional kids bed (twin or full) is $149, and underside treatment is +$50–$75 per mattress. A severe or biohazard case carries a surcharge we quote before starting. Every visit includes UV-C light treatment, HEPA vacuuming and two checks: a moisture check after the job and the built-in bed mite sensor on our UV-C vacuum. 72-hour bedroom CO₂ testing is a separate optional service, priced by quote, and it isn't a medical test. See Lincoln pricing for every rate.

What do Haymarket and downtown households ask?

Can you clean a mattress in a downtown high-rise?

Yes. Tell us the building, the unit and any loading-dock, elevator or parking instructions when you book. We bring the equipment up and clean the mattress where it is.

Do I need to book the freight elevator?

That depends on your building. Some buildings want contractors to use a service elevator or check in at the desk. Ask your building office and tell us what they say when you book.

I'm in a Haymarket loft with an open sleeping area. Does that change anything?

Not the method. Open lofts can be warm near the ceiling in summer, so keep the air conditioning on. The bed stays unmade until it is dry to the touch, and we run a moisture check after the job.

Is a studio with one bed worth a visit?

That is what the first-mattress price covers: $249, any size, with normal stains, pet odor and ordinary urine accidents included. A sofa bed mattress is a mattress too; ask when you book.

I host guests downtown for Husker games and concerts. Where should I start?

Our Airbnb hosts hub covers Lincoln's short-term rental rules, lodging taxes and Husker game weekends; the price is the same for hosts.
