Mattress Cleaning in Lincoln, NE: The Complete Guide
Written by Matthew Brunken · Sleep Sanitation
This is the guide we would give a Lincoln neighbor who asked what we actually do and whether it is worth it. It covers the method, the cost, the honest limits, and the seasonal reasons Nebraska households need this more than most.
The short version
Ask any mattress cleaner what equipment touches the mattress and how much water goes in. Our answer: dry vapor steam, and our Vapor Clean machines are rated by their maker at 5 to 6% moisture content, applied at temperatures high enough to do the sanitation work, leaving the foam core essentially dry and nothing behind for you to sleep against.
The first mattress is $249, any size, with normal stains, pet odor and ordinary urine accidents included. Each additional mattress in the same visit is $149–$199. Everything is published on our pricing page.
Why Nebraska bedrooms make this an annual job
A bedroom sealed against a Nebraska January is a warm, humid box that two adults exhale into for eight hours a night. That is precisely the environment bed mites (house dust mites) and odor compounds favor. From October through April, most Lincoln bedrooms are closed rooms with the heat on and the windows shut, and the mattress absorbs that pattern every single night.
By spring, a winter of closed-room nights has built up in the mattress. A musty note in the bedding is the most common thing people notice, and an annual cleaning is the simplest way to reset it.
What the process actually does
Our protocol runs five phases in order: inspect, prepare, sanitize, detail, reset. The order matters more than the equipment list.
- Inspect. We read the law tag first. Memory foam, latex, hybrid, innerspring, and organic builds react differently to heat and pass speed. A technician who does not check the tag is guessing about your $2,000 mattress.
- Prepare. Gloves and shoe booties on, with equipment disinfected between jobs.
- Sanitize. Dry vapor steam in overlapping passes across the sleep surface at calibrated temperature.
- Detail. Seams, quilting channels, piping, and side edges, each with its own passes.
- Reset. UV-C light treatment, tools broken down in order, and the room left as we found it.
The full service page covers what is included at each phase. If you want the method comparison specifically, read dry vapor steam vs. wet extraction.

A useful way to think about it: maintained as part of an annual standard, a thoroughly sanitized sleep surface costs less than a couple of dollars a day. That is the comparison we would make if we were the customer.
The honest boundaries
Three things we will tell you plainly, including on the phone before you book:
- We do not treat allergies or asthma. Our steam kills bed mites and HEPA vacuuming lifts the debris. That is cleaning, not medical treatment, and this is general information, not medical advice. Anyone claiming otherwise is overselling.
- We are not pest control. If you have an active bed bug infestation, you need a licensed pest professional. We clean the mattress afterwards, once the infestation has been professionally resolved.
- Some mattresses should be replaced. A core that has been saturated repeatedly for years, a failing cover, structural damage — surface treatment cannot fix those, and we would rather tell you before you pay than after. Where the honest answer is replacement, we say so.
We also do not clean carpets, upholstery, or vehicles. Mattresses are the whole business, which is the only reason the protocol is this specific.
When to book
- Annually as maintenance, if the mattress is in good condition and you want to stay ahead of accumulation.
- Semi-annually, if anyone in the house has significant allergy sensitivity or you have pets.
- Before the first night on a used mattress — including inherited, handed-down, and rental mattresses. See resetting a used mattress before the first night.
- After a pet or child accident, which gets the urine and odor treatment, included for ordinary accidents.
- When a specific room smells musty and you cannot find the source. It is usually the mattress.
