Mattress Specialist or Carpet Cleaner? A Lincoln, NE Guide
Written by Matthew Brunken · Sleep Sanitation
If the job is a mattress, hire a mattress specialist; if it is wall-to-wall carpet or rugs, hire a carpet cleaner. In Lincoln, a mattress add-on on a carpet job is typically done with the same hot-water extraction equipment used on the floors. Lincoln Mattress Cleaning, operated by Sleep Sanitation, is mattress-only: low-moisture dry vapor steam, HEPA vacuuming and UV-C light treatment, with a moisture check and a check with the built-in bed mite sensor on every visit. The first mattress is $249, any size. Call or text (402) 512-5658.
What does each trade actually do?
| Carpet cleaner's mattress add-on | Mattress specialist (us) | |
|---|---|---|
| Main business | Carpet, rugs and upholstery | Mattresses only |
| Usual method on the bed | Hot-water extraction, the carpet method | Low-moisture dry vapor steam |
| Time on the mattress | One item on a larger floor job | The whole appointment is about the bed |
| Seams, tufts and edges | Varies by provider | Worked on every mattress |
| Included checks | Varies by provider | Moisture check after the job; built-in bed mite sensor on the UV-C vacuum |
| Urine and pet odor | Varies by provider | Enzyme treatment; ordinary accidents included in $249 |
| Warranty note | Wet extraction can void some mattress warranties | We read the law tag and care label first |
Carpet cleaners do good work on carpet, and their equipment is built for floors. A mattress is foam, latex or fiber batting under a quilted cover, and water that goes into it is slow to come back out. That is why we start from the bed: identify the materials, set the steam and pass speed, work the seams, tufts and edges, then HEPA vacuum and run UV-C light treatment. The bed stays unmade until it is dry to the touch, and we run a moisture check before we leave.
Why does moisture matter in a Lincoln bedroom?
Lincoln Airport's NOAA normals put the average July dew point near 65°F, and the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department recommends 30 to 50 percent indoor humidity. Our Lincoln humidity and bed mites guide has the month-by-month numbers. A low-moisture method keeps the mattress out of that fight.
When is a carpet cleaner the better hire?
When the job is floors. If you need wall-to-wall carpet, area rugs or a sofa cleaned, call a carpet or upholstery company. We don't do those, and we would rather say so than stretch our equipment past the bed.
What should you ask before you book anyone?
- Is the mattress its own appointment, or an add-on to the floors?
- What equipment touches the mattress, and how much water goes in?
- Do you treat the seams, tufts and edges, or only the top panel?
- What is included in the price, and is urine or pet odor extra?
- How do you confirm the mattress is dry to the touch before the bed is made?
What does it cost in Lincoln?
$249 for the first mattress, any size. Each additional full, queen or king in the same visit is $199, and each additional kids bed (twin/full) is $149. Underside treatment is +$50–$75 per mattress, and severe or biohazard contamination carries a surcharge we quote before starting. UV-C light treatment and HEPA vacuuming are included every visit. For national context, Angi's mattress cleaning cost guide (updated August 3, 2026) gives a $130 average, with deep cleaning at $130 to $200; those are national figures, not Lincoln quotes.
Which Lincoln households book a specialist?
Homes with several beds, Airbnb hosts between Husker weekends, students and parents at move-in, and anyone with a pet urine problem. The method detail is in steam vs. wet extraction, and every rate is on the pricing page.

Common questions
Can a carpet cleaner clean my mattress in Lincoln?
Many offer it as an add-on to a carpet job. Ask what equipment touches the bed and how much water goes in. If it is the same hot-water extraction used on carpet, check your mattress warranty first, because wet-extraction carpet cleaners can void some mattress warranties.
Why does a mattress specialist cost more than a carpet add-on?
The whole visit is built around the mattress: a material inspection, low-moisture dry vapor steam worked into the seams and tufts, HEPA vacuuming, UV-C light treatment and two checks. That takes more time and more equipment per bed than one add-on item on a floor job.
How much does a mattress specialist cost in Lincoln?
$249 for the first mattress, any size, with normal stains, pet odor and ordinary urine accidents included. Each additional full, queen or king in the same visit is $199, each additional kids bed (twin/full) is $149, and underside treatment is +$50–$75 per mattress.
Do you clean carpets, rugs or couches too?
No. Lincoln Mattress Cleaning is mattress-only. For carpet, rugs or upholstery, hire a carpet or upholstery cleaner.
I'm having my carpets cleaned too. Which should come first?
Have the floors done first and let them dry, then book the mattress visit. Tell us when you book so we can plan around the room.
What checks come with every visit? Is CO₂ testing included?
Two checks, every visit: a moisture check after the job and the built-in bed mite sensor on our UV-C vacuum. 72-hour bedroom CO₂ testing is a separate optional service, priced by quote, and it is not a medical test.
