Graduation weekend: mattress turnarounds near UNL

UNL's May move-out and commencement weekend fill short-term rentals near City Campus. Book mattress cleaning for the first weekday after guest checkout, while the bed is stripped. When this matters

  1. May 9, 2026, 1 PM

    UNL residence halls closed for 2025–26. Graduating students had until 11 a.m. on May 10. (UNL Move Out)

  2. May 8–9, 2026

    UNL commencement weekend at Pinnacle Bank Arena in 2026, which also drove campus-area traffic. (UNL Parking and Transit announcement)

  3. First weekday after checkout

    Our cleaning window (Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m.). Leave the bed unmade until it is dry to the touch. (Lincoln Mattress Cleaning)

Why does graduation weekend matter for mattresses?

Families book near City Campus for commencement, and students turn over apartments the same week halls close. Hosts see back-to-back stays with little time to strip and reset a bed. A weekday cleaning after checkout is the realistic slot.

What should a host do that week?

  1. Strip the bed at checkout (or have the emergency contact do it).
  2. Book Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Call or text (402) 512-5658.
  3. Leave the bed unmade until it is dry to the touch. We run a moisture check after the job.
  4. Check the care label and warranty terms before any cleaning.

How is this different from May move-out for students?

May move-out and disposal is for students deciding whether a bed stays, moves or goes to the North 48th Street facility. This page is for hosts turning a guest bed during the same calendar crush.

What we don't know

  • The 2027 commencement and hall-close dates. UNL publishes them in spring.
  • How many campus-adjacent STRs will be booked that weekend. Demand varies by year.

When should a host book around commencement?

Hold the Monday after a Sunday checkout, or the weekday before the next guest if the turn is mid-week. We do not clean on Saturdays or Sundays.

What if a guest left odor on the mattress?

Pet odor and ordinary urine accidents are included. Tell us at booking. Severe or biohazard cases are quoted before work starts.
